N. R. Hills - Printmaker & Painter

Having graduated from The Chelsea School of Art, I worked for some years as a freelance illustrator, producing cover artwork for such authors as Philip K. Dick, Walter Tevis and Robert Aickman, as well as creating magazine illustrations for writers such as Neil Gaiman and Eve Devereux. Eventually I moved into producing graphics for CD-ROMS such as 'Ghosts' for MDI which featured Christopher Lee, and the award-winning 'Weird' for Twopointzero.

After working as a commercial artist for many years, I decided that I wanted to start creating more personal work and began a series of oil paintings on the theme of 'Beauty In Decay'. I have had two books of these paintings published.

Later, I moved towards printmaking and have had the first book of my collagraphs, 'The Mysterious Collagraph' published by Celeno Press.

I then spent four years working on a series of collages which all incorporate fragments of my collagraphs which I'm hoping to publish in a book in the next year or two.

My latest body of works, featuring a series of paintings, pastels and assemblages inspired by Rye Harbour is opening many exciting new horizons for me.
